PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS:

Contributions:

  • Joined Metro Hospitals and Heart Institute, Sec XI Noida (last week of November 2016) after resigning from Max Super specialty Hospital, Patparganj Delhi. This being one of a large chain of hospitals catering to the population of North and Western part of India. Appointed as Medical Superintendent of both Multi and Cardiac Wing of this 317 bedded NABH/NABL accredited Hospital. This hub caters to most of the super specialty departments. I am involved in all of medical and non-medical operations of this multispecialty hospital, which include insurance, billing, compliances, medico-legal matters, resolution of patient grievances and or not limited to the said entities. Was actively involved in the NABH re-accreditation process that commenced from 24th March 2017-26th March 2017.

Contributions:

  • Joined Max Super specialty Hospital, Patparganj, Delhi a 402 bedded tertiary care hospital in Feb 2014 as a Deputy Medical Superintendent and employed till Nov 2016. Since was into core hospital operations, took daily morning rounds of both East and West Block of the hospital that led to excellent IMRB (Indian Market Research Bureau) scores with a Top T2 rating.
  • Successfully organized Clinical Case Presentations of each Medical Department and ensured more than 70% attendance of clinicians.
  • Since was actively involved in the discharge process and ALOS (Average Length of Stay) of patients, and planning of next day discharges the daily revenue inclusive of Inpatient and Outpatient increased from 70 lacs in 2014, touching to max of 172 lacs per day in June 2016.
  • Being involved in the Medico Legal Cases of the hospital and a representative of the hospital was called by Delhi Medical Council (DMC) for a hearing on two cases that turned in favor of the hospital.
  • Received the prestigious “SEVABHAV AWARD” in February 2016 in recognition of exemplary work for patient care
  • Appreciation by Quality and Service Excellence Team on completing “Maximizer Quality Project on Reducing Management Discount” and Max Hospital Patparganj, Delhi.
  • Token of appreciation by top management of the hospital for “Huge Reduction in Discount”(60 lacs in 2014 to a phenomenal 5 lacs)within a span of eleven months.

Contributions:

  • Got engaged with Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital, Ghaziabad from April 2013 till January 2014, now known as Max Hospital, Vaishali a 328 bedded Super specialty Hospital as Manager Medical Services. Delivered effective patient care as per standards of ISO/NABH standards.
  • Ensured proper documentation of Indoor Patient File by the consultants, resident doctors whereby file completion rose from a low of 45% to as high as 90% within a span of two months and maintained consistency until my last working day.
  • Having obtained an MPH (Masters of Public Health) from the US, was appointed the Co-chairman of Hospital Infection Control Committee and kept surveillance on infection rates that occurred via VAP (Ventilator Associated Pneumonia), CAUTI (Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection), CLABSI (Central line-associated bloodstream infections) and SSI (Surgical Site Infections) that drastically brought down infection rates from 45% to 15% in 2013.This further led to reduction in high end antibiotics in ICU’s leading to overall hospital savings to the tune of approximately 15-20 lacs per month.
  • Coordinated inter-departmental meetings in relation to patient care that led to excellent patient satisfaction. Internal feedback regarding Hospital services through patient attendants revealed satisfaction rates from 60% to 75% in 2013.

Contributions:

  • Took up as Functional Head and Manager Medical Insurance at BLK Hospital, New Delhi a 300 bedded Super specialty accredited NABH/NABL hospital from January to Nov 2012.
  • Designed the first ever SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for the hospital related to medical insurance that was appreciated by the Board of Directors of the hospital.
  • Introduced as the first ever doctor to handle TPA (Third Party Administrator) cases of insurance in the hospital that brought an upsurge of revenue from 4.50 Cr to 4.80 Cr within a span of eleven months.
  • Having spent almost 10 hours in the hospital on a daily basis guaranteed utmost satisfaction of insurance cases, as almost all complaints regarding insurance denials got closed within a stipulated TAT (Turnaround Time) of 3-4 hours.

Contributions:

  • Appointed as a Chief (Doctor) for Medical Insurance, the first one at Kailash Hospital and Heart Institute, Noida a 325 bedded tertiary care Super specialty Hospital from July 2006 to January 2012. Being naïve with medical insurance learnt the pros and cons of the same and subsequently cleared a back log of three years of unanswered queries and dead insurance files and fetched the hospital Rs 1.75 Cr from an outstanding of 2.25 Cr. The same was applauded by the CMD (Chairman and Managing Director) along with the General Manager of the hospital, leading to increase in salary three folds within a span of six months.
  • Hospital insurance revenue increase from 50 lacs in 2006 to 1.50 Cr in January 2012, as tie ups with TPA’s increased from 28 in 2006 to 42 in 2012. Moreover minimal TPA denials led to increased patient satisfaction that led to upsurge in hospital TPA cases from approximately 12 in 2006 to 35 in 2012.

Contributions:

  • Spend five years in the USA from 2001-2005 and pursued a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from 2001-2003 at Mercer University School of Medicine, Macon Georgia.
  • As a Teaching Assistant while doing MPH, created realistic scenarios on Infectious Disease Epidemiology and designed questionnaire for MPH students as a part of their course schedule. This helped the students with a biology background to inculcate the finer aspects of the coursework.
  • While a Graduate Assistant, updated a book on “Changing Trends of Epidemiology and Environmental Health”. Concluded an elaborate research on effects of Air Pollutants on Environmental Health. This work of mine was appreciated by Former Chair, Department of Community Medicine.
  • Being a Research Assistant, analyzed the impact of generalized obesity and abdominal adiposity (AO) among Whites, African Americans and Hispanics in the United States. This being a part of dissertation helped my principal investigator and guide in statistical analysis of the pending projects till 2005.
  • Having been designated as a Program Manager (MPH) from 2003 – 2005, worked on projects assigned by the principal investigator and created a data base of confounding factors leading to obesity that made work easier for future MPH students in the university.

Contributions:

  • While pursuing Junior Residency in Orthopedics at LNJP hospital and Sushrut Trauma Center, Delhi was adjudged an asset to senior residents and consultants as assisted on Open Reductions via External fixators, and independently performing Closed Reductions, Wound Care & Management of Soft Tissue Injuries. Independently took care of fracture clinic at LNJP hospital by providing consults to approximately 120-150 patients including plaster application on few of them.

  • Oil painting (landscapes) and still life (pencil sketching and shading).

Appointment:

  • A feather in the cap as was recently appointed by the Directorate of one of the premier institute namely Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT, Kanpur) as one of the Advisors in the Advisory Committee of Primary Health Center of the organization.

  • Recently being appointed by Directorate Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur as one of the Advisors on Board for the Health Centre IIT-K. This being a Primary Health Center (PHC) caters to a population of around 15000 comprising of IIT-K undergrads, post grads, and other IIT-K employees. The committee has been constituted to provide suggestions regarding up gradation of facilities in IIT-K to review and implement unmet needs in IIT-K.
