In this painting, the artist largely tries to portray the ordinary woman as the all powerful Goddess. In earlier times and even today, women were kept hidden from society in purdah and they were expected to don a garb of modesty in front of the landlords and other men. Inspite of such restrictions, the fiery spirit of a woman couldn’t be shackled which is potrayed brilliantly through the blazing, big eyes of the woman.
